Automatic solar pool water heating control
The microprocessor-controlled unit automatically obtains the maximum possible heat from the sun for your pool or hot tub until the desired temperature is reached. It starts at daybreak and checks whether conditions are suitable for maximizing heat gain up to the set water temperature. At the same time, it prevents unwanted overheating and the resulting deterioration of water quality. The controller adapts to local conditions, so during the swimming season you do not have to worry about switching pool heating, or optionally filtration, on and off.
Connecting the SUNREG23/SUNREG[Wi] control unit
The heart of the system is the control unit, to which you simply connect the pump, temperature sensors and the heating bypass valve.
Setting up the control unit is simple and intuitive. The factory-set pool water temperature is 27°C. Simply change it to your preferred temperature and SUNREG[Wi] will take care of everything in automatic mode. If the filtration circuit is equipped with a bypass, the unit can also automatically run evening pool filtration.
If you want full control of the system, simply switch to manual mode and operate only the required components.
A timer function ensures that the system is not accidentally left running: after the set time, it switches everything off, returns the system to automatic mode and prepares it for the next day.
SUNREG mobile app
The SUNREG mobile app lets you keep your solar pool heating under control from anywhere. It clearly displays the current pool and solar circuit temperatures, the status of heating, filtration and the pump, and shows what the system is currently doing.
Directly from the app, you can switch between automatic and manual mode, control individual parts of the system and adjust important controller settings. During heating, you can monitor its progress and the estimated time required to reach the desired temperature.
The app can manage multiple SUNREG units, allowing you to monitor, for example, a pool at home and another at your holiday home from a single phone. Communication takes place over the internet via the Wi-Fi connection of the SUNREG[Wi] control unit.
The app also includes diagnostics, operating parameter settings and the option to update the controller firmware. This allows you to configure and monitor SUNREG conveniently without having to access the control unit directly.
Water circuit connection with solar heating
In the basic configuration, the control unit monitors the water temperature and regulates the flow through the solar water-heating panels. The system is connected to the outlet between the pump and the pool and works as an open path for normal circulation or filtration, with a bypass for the solar heating circuit. In most existing solar-heating installations, you only need to replace the manual valve with a motorized valve.
You can use 32 mm or 38 mm hoses, depending on your pool installation, or connect the bypass to your existing fixed pipework.
The system includes two temperature sensors that measure the water temperature at the pool outlet and at the solar panel outlet. The motorized valve opens or closes the main water path as required to obtain as much heat as possible while preventing the pool from overheating on hot days.
If you also want filtration to start automatically at the end of the day, simply add a motorized valve and a filtration bypass to the circuit.
Installation is simple
If you already use solar water heating, simply replace the manual bypass valve with a motorized valve equipped with sensor wells.

In addition to controlling pool water heating, SUNREG23/SUNREG[Wi] can also run filtration for a period you set after the end of the day. This function is optional.
The system is connected to the pump outlet and works as an open valve for normal circulation or closes the path for filtration.

When enabled, filtration starts at the time you set or after dark and runs for the configured duration.
The pool water heating controller operates an automatic motorized valve, which the control unit opens and closes according to the temperature difference between the solar collector and the pool water. When the collector temperature exceeds the pool temperature, the valve allows water to flow through the collectors and heat the pool water.
The controller monitors the water temperature according to your selected target, helping prevent the pool from overheating during the hottest part of the summer. The existing pool pump is used to circulate water through the collectors on the roof. Once the system is filled and water returns through the closed circuit, the additional load on the pump is negligible under normal operating conditions.

Fully automatic operation without the need for manual control. At dawn, it begins monitoring heat output from the solar panels. On hot days, it prevents the water from overheating above the set value.
The unit is fully waterproof and can be exposed to rain and splashing water. You can safely leave it outside next to the pool equipment. Protection rating IP67.
Manual mode gives you full control over all system functions. You can start the pump, heating, and filtration. Want to vacuum the pool? Just start the pump and begin.
A timer in manual mode prevents forgetting. Set the duration for which the unit should operate manually. After it ends, it switches back to automatic mode and waits for the next sunny day.
The light sensor in automatic mode handles regulation. It checks the current pool water temperature and the temperature from the solar panels, then starts heating the water.
Internal clocks allow you to set switching times when you don't want to use the light sensor. You can set the time from which the pool should start heating.
Option for automatic evening filtration when a bypass is installed. Set the duration and SUNREG23 will handle the evening filtration. The pool will be ready the next morning.
Quick and easy setup. SUNREG23 is controlled with three buttons, making operation intuitive even without a manual. The up arrow activates automatic mode, the down arrow manual mode.
